Save Money With Wholesale Backpack Tents

Purchasing wholesale backpack tents can save you a lot of money because instead of paying the full retail price you can get the tents at the wholesale price offered by the manufacturer. You can get a quality tent and save the usual profit margin to buy some of the backpacking gear you need for your trip. A revolutionary tent for backpacking is one called the "geodesic dome". This type of tent allows you to have a maximum amount of space with a minimum of material, making it easier to fold into a backpack.

There are a huge variety of backpack tents that will suit your purpose. The climate and the area you have in mind will determine whether you need a summer tent or if you should purchase either a three or four season tent. The basic descriptions of each of these types of tents suitable for backpacking are:

  • Summer: Simple A-frame tents with a waterproof fly and mosquito netting. These types of tents are usually made from urethane-coated nylon sheet and are water repellant, not waterproof. You can also have plastic tube tents to provide you with emergency shelter.
  • Three-season: The most common tents available. They are stronger A-frame tents that are capable of withstanding wind and even the weight of small amounts of snow. Some have the upper part made totally of netting for use during the summer, but a solid upper body is better for the colder weather months.
  • Four-Season: These tents are able to withstand harsher winter conditions, but are still suitable for the summer months as well. Some models may have a small enclosed area at the entrance that keeps the weather from the main part of the "cabin" or even cook vents so that you can cook inside safely.

When you are purchasing gear for your backpacking or camping trip, consider the type of roof you want your equipment to have. A flat roof will hold more snow and increase the potential of collapsing. Find out whether the tents are free-standing or if you have to use poles to keep them upright. Good backpacking tents should have 10 - 12 stitches per inch and the tents should have waterproof bottoms.
