What You Need to Know About Backpacking

You need to be familiar with backpacking on a small scale before you venture into back packing for long periods of time, such as back packing through Europe. This is a fantastic and cheap method of seeing other destinations, countries and cultures. The first thing you have to do is look at the type of equipment you will need. You need to have a backpack that can carry all your clothes, food as well as have compartments for your wallet and documentation. You may be surprised that you will need to carry food, but if you want to travel as cheap as possible, you don't always want to have to go to restaurants for your food.

Experts will tell you that backpacking food is very essential to the success of any back packing trip. You will need to have a frame that can accommodate a sleeping bag and a small stove if you like to have warm food. Most backpackers can get by on dry food, such as fruits and junk food, but you do need to make sure that the food is nutritious so that you don't become ill. Good food choices are chocolate bars and granola bars because they are light and will provide you with energy. A small stove will allow you to boil water and make coffee or tea to get you started each morning.

You really need to have a backpacking checklist to make sure you have everything you need. The first item you do need for any back packing trip is a map of the destinations you plan to visit. Most destinations in Europe have hostels for tourists, but there are also many cheap hotels for you to choose from.
